Shortage Control, Inc. was founded in 1957 by Joseph J. Young (Mighty Joe) under the name Seaboard Service Systems, Inc. It began as a retail shopping service to include mystery shopping and pre-employment polygraph testing.
As the industry started to evolve, so did Shortage Control, with the addition of the dealer division - SC Video. As pre-employment polygraph testing was federally phased out and video surveillance began to make an impression, Joe decided it was time to branch out and expand his opportunity to include Closed Circuit Video (CCV).
In a downtown Cleveland office building, he began selling and installing surveillance systems and shortly the company flourished. His warehouse space went from a back office to a 4000 square foot warehouse in Brookpark, Ohio where we distributed to resellers throughout north America and overseas. We also provided Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) systems, installation and consulting services to major retailers, manufacturers and entertainment users across the country and still do.
Today, our offices and warehouse are combined in Strongsville, Ohio. The equipment has become more sophisticated and cost effective, while becoming an intregral solution for many issues related to safety and security. Whether to keep internal theft to a minimum, comprehensive evidence in lawsuits and their reduction, deterring crimes on, around or near your establishment, we can put a system at your fingertips today.
As the next generation, we continue to live by Joe’s philosophy: honesty and a handshake. We strive to keep the old fashioned up front and honest customer service he instilled from the beginning, selling you the system you want, the system that fits your needs, not the system that you can’t run or has more than you can use.
